Vaccine registration opened for ages 35 and above
Vaccination programme is continuing across the country, despite the violent unrest that led to the temporary closure of some vaccination sites in Gauteng and KwaZulu-Natal this week.
From next week Wednesday, people aged 35-49 can register online to get their Covid-19 vaccine shots.
This after acting health minister Mmamoloko Kubayi announced last week Friday that people in this age group would begin getting their vaccinations from August 1.
“They are advised to register on the electronic vaccination data system to avoid congestion and long-waiting queues at vaccination sites,” national health department spokesperson Popo Maja said.
He added that the vaccination programme was continuing across the country, despite the violent unrest that led to the temporary closure of some vaccination sites in Gauteng and KwaZulu-Natal this week.
Methods of registration include online registration, the Covid-19 call centre, WhatsApp or USSD.
The call centre can be reached at 0800 029 999; WhatsApp line on 0600 123 56 and the UUSD on *134*832#.
Anyone over 50 can walk in at vaccination sites to get their jabs, whether or not they had an appointment to vaccinate.
Maja also called on law-abiding citizens to join hands with the government and other sectors to safeguard healthcare facilities, healthcare workers and medical supplies against criminal activities aimed at undermining the rule of law in the country.
“We will continuously update the public about the state of the affected healthcare facilities and vaccination sites,” he said.
