Three seriously injured in north accidents
In one accident in Pretoria North, a woman had to be airlifted to hospital after she was pinned between two cars.
This week, two vehicle accidents in the north of Pretoria left three people seriously injured.
At 10:00, Medi-Edge (a non-profit ambulance service) responded to an accident on the R101 (Old Warmbaths Road) corner of Sphinx Road, Onderstepoort.
Two vehicles had collided and Medi-Edge volunteer paramedics stabilised two seriously injured people on the scene before rushing them to a nearby hospital.
Not even two hours later, Medi-Edge volunteers responded to an accident in Gerrit Maritz Road, corner of Danie Theron Street, Pretoria North.
At 11:40, paramedics were called to rescue a woman pinned between two vehicles.
“Reports from the scene indicate that she was busy at the back of her car, which was parked in a parking space next to the road when another vehicle collided with her,” said Medi-Edge in a statement.
Paramedics stabilised the severely injured woman before she was airlifted to a hospital.
“Due to the extent of her injuries, HALO Aviation’s emergency medical helicopter was requested to transport the patient to a specialised hospital,” said Medi-Edge.
“Another patient on scene sustained moderate injuries and was also transported to a nearby hospital.”
Both accidents will form part of a police investigation.
