Motorist shot in east ‘spiking’ incident
The motorist was travelling along the R104 road when he allegedly drove over tyre spikes placed in the roadway, causing his tyres to puncture.
A motorist was shot and wounded during an armed robbery around Mamelodi on Thursday evening.
The incident happened on the R104 road near Solomon Mahlangu Drive, said Emer-G-Med spokesperson Kyle van Reenen.
“On arrival on the scene a male patient approximately 30 years of age, was found seated in his motor vehicle, having suffered a gunshot wound to the leg,” said Van Reenen.
“He was treated and stabilised before being taken to a nearby hospital for further care.”
Van Reenen said the motorist was travelling along the R102 road when he allegedly drove over tyre spikes placed in the roadway, causing his tyres to puncture.
“When his vehicle came to a stop, he was approached by an unknown number of armed suspects who robbed him of his belongings, before shooting him in the leg,” he said.
Local police could not confirm the incident at the time of going to print.
