Pedestrian killed in suspected hit and run in East

"We were notified about an accident where a vehicle rolled after swerving to avoid a person who was lying in the fast lane of the N4."

A pedestrian was killed in a suspected hit and run in the east of Pretoria on Saturday morning.

This happened on the N4 highway close to Solomon Mahlangu off-ramp, said Casper Visser of Vemru.

“At 01:50, we were notified about an accident where a vehicle rolled after swerving to avoid a person who was lying in the fast lane of the N4. It is suspected that the person was hit by another vehicle earlier and that the driver fled the scene,” he said.

Upon the medics’ arrival, Visser said the pedestrian was found with fatal injuries and was declared dead on scene.

“The driver of the vehicle sustained minor injuries and declined to be transported to hospital,” he said.
