Final send-off for Pretoria lung specialist
Dr Justus Kilian died a week ago of Covid-related complications.

A well-known Pretoria lung specialist was laid to rest at the Zandfontein cemetery on Tuesday morning.
Dr Justus Kilian (68) a pulmonologist at a Pretoria East hospital died of Covid-19 related complications more than a week ago.

In a short service attended by a few friends and family, Kilian was described as a family man who loved nature and was dedicated to his patients and work.
In a message to her husband, Nerine thanked him for his dedication to their family and the patients he treated.
“Justus, thank you for the short time we were able to share together – it’s over in a blink of an eye. Thank you for your dedication and caring and care for me and our family and every patient! Even when you were out of breath, you still whispered: how can I help? I miss you, the quiet times together – I love you.”

In a message to their father, Kilian’s children wrote:
“Dad, one day we will meet again. One day we will complete the unfinished business. Today we will remember the paths, conversations and memory. It was not always an equal path. Not always easy, but it shaped and improved us. The spiritual guidance will last for a lifetime. We are going to miss the wisdom, the memory of never giving up, never going to lie down always remembering.”
A tribute from the grandchildren read: “I miss you grandpa and I long to see you again.”
And: “Dear grandfather. Thanks for the hot chips, pizza and black beauty stories. I’m going to miss you terribly.”
