Man in court for murder of Jaco Geldenhuys
Jaco Geldenhuys’ body was found in Rayton after he had gone missing last month.
A man appeared in the Bronkhorstspruit court on Monday for allegedly murdering Capital Park resident Jaco Geldenhuys.
Martin Kichenbrand was arrested recently after the 32-year-old Geldenhuys’ body was found in Rayton outside Pretoria.
Kichenbrand on Monday dismissed legal aid, opting to defend himself in court. He also did not make an application for bail.
National Prosecuting Authority spokesperson Lumka Mahanjana said Kichenbrand indicated in court that he wanted to plea.
“However, we cannot confirm if he will indeed plea.”
The matter was remanded to September 6 at Bronkhorstspruit regional court, for further investigation.
Geldenhuys had disappeared last month after he had apparently gone to Cullinan.
His friend and work colleague, Dean Bester, told Rekord that Geldenhuys had gone to “work on a car”, but never came home.
Geldenhuys was reported missing and his car was found abandoned in Montana. His body was later discovered in the Rayton area.
“We are happy that justice is taking its course,” said Bester.
Geldenhuys leaves behind two brothers.
