Mother, child injured in pedestrian accident

"Both the mother and child were transported to a nearby hospital in a stable condition.”

A mother and her child sustained moderate to severe injuries in a pedestrian accident on Tuesday morning in Centurion.

According to Ruan Heyns, spokesperson for CERT-SA, they responded around 11:45 to a pedestrian-vehicle accident in Rabie Street near Highlands shopping centre.

“A mother and her young child were struck by a light motor vehicle while trying to cross the road.

“The mother sustained moderate to severe injuries while the child sustained minor injuries. Both were taken to a nearby hospital in a stable condition.”

Heyns thanked Tshwane metro police, Lyttelton police, Netcare911, Monitor Net, Noordvaal Security, and Tshwane emergency services department for the assistance on the scene.

Police were yet to comment at the time of going to press.
