Centurion store robbed during trading hours

A Pick n Pay in Centurion was robbed at gunpoint on Tuesday afternoon at around 17:00.

According to Monitor Net spokesperson JP Le Roux, they responded to the armed robbery at Doringkloof Mall.

Le Roux said it is not known how many robbers were involved, but they entered during trading hours and had firearms.

“Unfortunately, they got away and no one was arrested.

“Staff members reported having been threatened at gunpoint to open the safes. The robbers managed to get away with an undisclosed amount of Sassa money.”

No shots were fired and no one was injured, Le Roux said.

Lyttelton police have yet to comment at the time of going to press.

The Pick n Pay store was open for business today but its management could not comment.
