March in Pretoria CBD to affect three intersections

The marchers will gather from 09:00 on the corner of Nelson Mandela Drive and Stanza Bopape Street.

The Tshwane metro police (TMPD) has warned a march taking place later this morning may affect some streets in central Pretoria.

TMPD said on social media the march was planned by the Young Communist Party.

They said the purpose of the march was that “the community of Tshwane want to participate in the fight against crime”.

“The marchers will gather from 09:00 at an open space on the corner of Nelson Mandela Drive and Stanza Bopape Street,” said TMPD in a statement.

The route of the march is as follows:

From Nelson Mandela Drive they turn left into Johannes Ramokhoase Street then left to Thabo Sehume Street and left to Madiba Street, proceeding straight until they reach Tshwane House.

The following intersections will be affected:

– Du Toit Street
– Sisulu Street
– Lilian Ngoyi Street

They are expected to disperse from the Tshwane House at 12:00.

Metro police officers will be deployed to monitor the march and all affected streets.

Motorists are advised to avoid the affected streets and use alternative routes such as:

– Pretorius Street
– Paul Kruger Street
– Bosman Street
– Francis Baard Street
