AmaTuks reinforce squad with 12 new signings
"So far the players have met with what we have demanded of them and they understand what will be demanded of them in the coming season.”
GladAfrica Championship side AmaTuks have reinforced their squad after announcing 12 new signings this week.
The Pretoria side also announced the departure of 11 other players including Zambian legend Collins Mbesuma and midfielder Clifford Ngobeni.
The following players have been signed ahead of the 2020/21 season; Ayanda Mvambi, Quinton Stokes-Waller, Lulama Maqoko, Blessing Mabasa, Kitso More, Kamogelo Pheeane, Lesedi Motha, Trevor Mokwena, Sibongakonke Mbatha, Keegan Allan, Thakasani Mbanjwa and Simnikiwe Mbonde.
“We have had to reinforce in a number of departments, particularly upfront,” said AmaTuks coach Jan Motaung.
“We really tested them at training and in the friendlies they have played so far they have proven themselves. We looked at bringing in players with some experience but we also wanted players who will compete aerially and will be able to keep up with the pace because that is the model that we are going for this season.
“I believe there are players within the club who can offer us what we are looking for in the senior set up. A player like Lesedi who has excellent anticipation; he can see things before they happen and he is very confident on the ball and is not afraid to take players on,” he said.
Motaung said the team needed to give youngsters a chance to prove themselves.
“I am grateful that we have been able to bring in a majority of our target players early enough so that we could have good pre-season preparations. So far the players have met what we have demanded of them and they understand what will be demanded of them in the coming season.”
