Flower tributes to honour Pretoria east girls killed in New Zealand

Residents will lay pot plants and flowers at The Wilds estate as well as the Irene Farm duck pond to pay tribute to the three girls.

Members of the community have taken the initiative to pay tribute the three Pretoria girls who were killed allegedly by their mother in New Zealand last week.

Six-year-old Liane Dickason and her younger sisters, two-year-old twins Karla and Maya were found dead at a property in Timaru where they were staying with their parents.

The girls and their medical practitioner parents Graham and Lauren moved from Pretoria to New Zealand where they were put into a home leased by the hospital for visiting health professionals when they finished their stint in managed Covid  isolation.

The NG Tygerpoort church, along with friends and family of the Dickasons have since started putting pot plants at the entrance of The Wilds estate in memory of the girls.

In a Facebook post, the church said the estate would plant the pot plants in a garden as a tribute.

“We are aware that quite a few of our congregation members know this family very well, as they have tuned into our congregation until recently,” the post read.

“You can support the initiative.”

When Rekord visited the estate on Saturday morning, a white cross could be seen at the entrance’s garden with several pot plants around it as well as a teddy bear alongside the word “Hoop” (Hope).

Another initiative in Irene will see community members bring flowers to the Irene Farm pond on Sunday morning.

The girls’ mother Lauren has since been charged with their murder.
