Guard shot as robbers make off with cash in Silverton heist
The drivers were delivering cash to a depot in Samcor when a white BMW bumped them from behind forcing them to drive into a fence.

A guard was injured when he was shot during a cash-in-transit heist in Silverton on Sunday morning.
Police spokesperson Colonel Athlenda Mathe said the incident took place on Vonkprop Street around 09:00.
Mathe said the guards were en route to deliver cash to the Samcor depot when a white BMW bumped them [from behind] causing them to drive into a fence of the offices of SAPS crime intelligence office.

“The BMW was set alight by the suspects and burned out. Nine more vehicles [joined] and started shooting [at the CIT vehicle],” she said.
“The vehicles were four Ford Rangers, two Toyota Hilux, a BMW, Mercedes and a VW Tiguan. All white.
“There were around 30 suspects.”
