Police want to work together with residents
Wonderboompoort police sent a special message to the residents during national Heritage Day celebrations at Alma school last Thursday.
Wonderboompoort police station commander Lieutenant-Colonel Dinah Tabane urged members of the community to unite and fight against crime in the policing precinct.
“We need to join hands with members of the community and fight against crime in our area,” Tabane said when addressing a gathering during the national Heritage Day celebration at Alma school last Thursday.
The day is celebrated on September 24 annually in South Africa, to encourage citizens to be proud of their culture and together rejoice the diversity of their beliefs and traditions under the context of building a united nation.

The people who attended the event included parents of Alma school learners, teachers and police.
Tabane said united community in their diversity would make them stronger and able to provide important information that would help the police to easily fight against crime and maintain law and order in the area.

Attendees celebrated by wearing colourful traditional outfits.
Alma school principal Pietman Swanepoel urged the audience to celebrate their culture and be proud of themselves and their country.
The event was held under Covid-19 restricted guidelines.
