Police arrest man for possession of hijacked Nissan NP200

"He was cornered through the assistance of Tracker which identified the exact spot where the vehicle was."

Rietgat police arrested a 31-year-old man for possession of a hijacked Nissan NP200 in block W, Soshanguve, on Tuesday evening.

Captain Stephen Maluleka said the suspect hijacked the vehicle at the very same block where he was arrested.

“He was cornered through the assistance of Tracker which identified the exact spot where the vehicle was and the police swiftly pounced on the suspect,” said Maluleka.

Rietgat police Station Commander Brigadier Molatelo Maphoto lauded the police for the swift arrest.

“I am very delighted with the quick response in recovering the vehicle. I would like to promise the community that this is the new normal of making sure suspects are put behind bars,” said Maphoto.

Maluleka said the suspect would soon appear in the Soshanguve magistrate’s court.
