Beauty queen leads Mamelodi clean-up campaign
Nothing makes her happy as seeing people live in a clean environment and children playing around at clean community parks in Mamelodi.
Having a big heart and a passion for nature led a 20-year-old from Mamelodi stepping up to clean around her area.
Katlego Modise said nothing made her happier than seeing people live in a clean environment and children playing around in clean community parks in Mamelodi.
She decided to gather her friends and close family members for a clean-up campaign.
It started in the streets of section D1, Mamelodi West, and included some parts of Moretele park and up to Phola park in section C5 on Saturday morning from 09:00 until 12:00.

The young lady does not mind getting her hands dirty, and cleaning Mamelodi was a continuation of her charity journey for 2021. She loves giving back to the community.
She was worried about the state of Phola park since it was supposed to be a safe place for children to play.
“We took it upon ourselves as a community to make sure we all work together to remove all the rubbish from the park and restore it to its old state,” said Modise.
“The aim was to encourage the community to take care of the park and stop littering there.”
She said at the beginning of 2020, she visited Tshwaraganang children’s home and donated some clothes, along with Thatego Helpful Souls.
“Donating has been my passion since I was young. Now I am aiming high to achieve my goals and living my dream as a model,” she said.
She is a pageant and fashion model by profession and has worked with Ace Models in Pretoria east.

In 2019, she entered her first pageant, Dreamgirls SA, and became the second princess, senior debutant and Face of Miss Dreamgirls.
Modise requested Mamelodi residents to donate school shoes for unprivileged children, so they can start 2022 with a new pair of shoes.
She encouraged local businesses to plough back by donating perishable, non-perishable items and clothes for the unprivileged.
