Locals share their views on local elections
It seems that Moot residents will make their mark for the upcoming elections.
Many South Africans are gearing up to make their mark in the 2021 local municipal elections.
South Africans will head to the polls on November 1, 2021, to elect the political leadership of the country’s municipalities.
All South African citizens aged 18 years or older who are registered on the national common voters’ roll are eligible to vote in elections. You can only vote once (per ballot paper) and only in the voting district in which you are registered.

It seems that most Moot residents will make their mark for the upcoming elections.
Some, however, will not be voting this year as they feel that local ward councillors are of no help to them.

Here are some of their comments:
– Chantel Geël Seegers: “I am going to vote again this year with the hope that my vote can make a difference. The streetlights that are not working, are a huge problem and we even wait months before our complaints are addressed, not to mention the bad condition of our roads.”

– Jandri Sonskyn Mulder: “Yes, I will be voting. First we had the ANC that did nothing, now we have the DA that is absolutely useless. The councillor doesn’t assist with any issues in the area. They want your vote, but as soon as you need their help, they disappear. So I will be voting VF+ this time. They seem to be the only ones going the extra mile to help the community.”
– Michelle Mans: “No, I won’t be voting, because all parties make promises, but when the time comes to deliver nothing gets done. They are all in it just for the money. They are not worried about the people.”
– Gerrie Basson: “I would definitely vote, if you don’t participate, you can’t complain, the two go hand-in-hand. The changes I would like to see are daily inspections on the roads and trees and water canals. It’s a constant breeding ground for illegal dumping and criminals.”
