School’s passion project aims to make the world a better place

"It is for this reason that we celebrate the commitment of all the learners to partake in this noble cause."

Maragon Olympus strives to inspire learners to use their God-given gifts to make the world a better place for others through so-called “passion projects”.

Teacher Anele Schultz said that as part of their economic and management sciences curriculum in the third term, grade 7 learners had to start a venture to raise funds for their passion project.

“Although the academic side of the venture was subject to an assessment of the practical application, it was without reward or praise and left completely to the integrity and inspiration of each group.

“Covid-19 also complicated matters more by not allowing any sales and handling of goods on school premises.

“It is for this reason we celebrate the commitment of all the learners to partake in this noble cause,” she said.

Paige Sadler, Kayla Neetling and Sarah-Leigh Nel excelled in their project.

The group consisting of Paige Sadler, Sarah-Leigh Nel and Kayla Neethling especially stood out by managing to generate an exceptional amount of several thousand rands through ice-cream sales.

“We truly believe that it is the heart and integrity of these young and upcoming entrepreneurs, who seek God’s kingdom in making the world a better place for others, that will form the building blocks to let a country prosper,” said Schultz.

Maragon Olympus was named top English primary school during the Best of Pretoria Readers’ Choice awards.
