Trio arrested for armed robbery in Laudium
"The suspects jumped out of a bakkie and pointed a firearm at the victim before assaulting him."
Quick action by Laudium police led to the arrest of three men for armed robbery in Carmine Street on Sunday afternoon.
Laudium police spokesperson Sergeant Simon Chokoe said the victim was walking in Carmine Street carrying his bag of tools when he was approached by four men in a white bakkie.
“The suspects jumped out and pointed a firearm at the victim before assaulting him.”
Chokoe said the suspects left with the victim’s bag and an undisclosed amount of money. He said police were immediately notified of the robbery and reacted swiftly. “
The bakkie matching the description given was spotted in the area and police approached and searched it, and found a school bag containing working tools belonging to the victim,” Chokoe said.
Three suspects, aged between 16 and 20, were immediately arrested for armed robbery.
“One suspect is still at large. The suspects arrested will appear before the Atteridgeville magistrate’s court soon,” he said.
