More rain expected this week, warns weather service

Motorists are further advised that driving conditions in some areas are likely to become dangerous due to poor visibility and slippery roads.

The SA Weather Service has issued a warning of disruptive rain throughout the week.

Forecaster Venetia Phakula said there was a 60% chance of scattered showers and thundershowers expected on Wednesday going into the evening.

“Pretoria will be cool and warm for the rest of the day with a maximum of 25ºC,” she said.

“For tomorrow, we are also expecting a 60% chance of rain with temperatures reaching 25ºC from a minimum of 16ºC.”

Phakula said partly cloudy conditions were expected for Friday.

“We are predicting a 30% chance of rain for Pretoria on Friday with temperatures warming up to 29ºC.”

She said Saturday will see a 30% chance of scattered showers and thundershowers.

Motorists are further advised that driving conditions in some areas are likely to become dangerous due to poor visibility and slippery roads.

“Moreover, extra care should be taken when negotiating bridges and low-water crossings known to be susceptible to flash-flooding. “Other thunderstorm-related hazards include the risk of large amounts of small hail which may cause damage to vehicles and infrastructure,” the SA Weather Service said.
