Toddler dies in Centurion accident

The mother, who was driving the car, was treated and stabilised on scene for moderate injuries.

A two-year-old girl has been killed and her mother left injured in an accident on the N1 south in Centurion on Thursday morning.

Emer-G-Med paramedics responded to the scene just after 03:00 just before John Vorster off-ramp, said Emer-G-Med spokesperson Kyle van Reenen.

“Further inspection found the toddler to have suffered fatal injuries and she was declared dead on arrival.”

The mother, who was driving the car, was treated and stabilised on scene for moderate injuries, before being taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital for further care,” he said.

Van Reenen said the highway was closed to allow the police to conduct the required investigation.
