NEWSFLASH: One dead in Centurion accident
The two vehicles involved in the accident collided in the fast lane.
One person was killed when a light utility vehicle and light passenger vehicle collided on the N1 South in the early hours of Saturday morning.
In a statement, emergency medical and rescue service Community Emergency Response Team (Cert-SA) said another person sustained moderate injuries in the accident, which happened near the Rigel Road off-ramp.
The vehicles collided in the fast lane and the so-called “jaws-of-life” had to be used to free the deceased from the wreckage.

“The exact circumstances surrounding the incident are not yet clear and police have opened an accident scene investigation,” the statement said.
Last week, a motorist sustained serious injuries when two vehicles collided head-on near the N1 bridge in the Centurion area.

The motorist, who was trapped in the wreckage of the vehicle, was removed with the jaws-of-life.
Six others also sustained injuries which ranged between moderate and severe, and were transported to the hospital in stable conditions.
