A Mamelodi family has been left with nothing after a fire completely destroyed their home and everything in it.
On Saturday, Mamelodi EFF members led by the regional command team members and deputy chairperson, Leofi Leshabana, visited the Selowa family in Mamelodi East phase 1.
Leshabana said the visit was to assess the damage suffered by the Selowa family after their house was burned to the ground by the fire.
He said the visit was to assess the damage after the house was burned to the ground by a fire apparently caused by an electrical meter box malfunction on January 2.
“The family lost everything they owned in the fire and they were left with the clothes on their back,” said Leshabane.

Luckily when the fire started the parents were at home and the three children were still on holiday.
The Selowa family lost all their clothes, including the children’s school uniforms, birth certificates and IDs, food and groceries, furniture and the two shacks they called home.
Leshabane said that the family’s savings meant to be used to buy school necessities also perished in the fire.
He conveyed the EFF’s sympathy for the misfortune that befell the Selowa family.
“We donated building materials and groceries to help the family to get back on their feet,” said Leshabane.
The Selowa family expressed their gratitude for the support.
