Property-related theft increasing in the Moot
"A group of three men are mainly targeting the Rietfontein and Wonderboom South areas."
Moot police are concerned about the increase of thefts in the area, especially of items such as gate motors, garden tools, cellphones and things that can be easily taken.
“Although these crimes are right across the whole area, a group of three men mainly target the Rietfontein and Wonderboom South areas,” said police spokesperson Captain Anton Breedt.
Police had the following tips for residents:
– Only place dustbins out on the day of collection.
– Move all objects of value during the night to a safe place.
– Secure your motor gate with a safety grid over the motor box with a decent padlock. Secure bolts to the safety grid by welding the bolts to the frame.
– Where possible, attach an alarm to the gate motor box for early warning when it is tampered with.
Acting Pretoria Moot SAPS station commander Lieutenant Colonel Samuel Tselana appealed to the community to help in the fight against crime by being the eyes and ears of the police.
