An alleged robber was shot and wounded during a business robbery at a supermarket chain at the Centurion Lifestyle Centre on Friday evening.
Police spokesperson Sergeant Divine Nkuna said the man, who was shot in the buttocks, was under police guard in hospital.
This was after an undisclosed number of men arrived at the supermarket’s storage bay under the pretence of delivering goods.
Meanwhile, provincial police spokesperson Colonel Dimakatso Sello said the store’s employees and security officers were forced at gunpoint to load goods such as TVs and speakers onto the truck the robbers were driving.
“An armed response security officer responded and a shootout ensued,” she said.
The robbers then fled the scene with the stolen goods.
“The police investigation is ongoing,” Sello said.
