Stitches of Hope: Survivors gather for a vibrant fundraising brunch
Community, connection, and compassion came together in a colourful carnival-themed gathering in Irene.
In a beautiful display of solidarity and community spirit, the dedicated members and supporters of Crochet for Cancer recently came together for a heartwarming morning brunch nestled in the scenic surroundings of Irene.

Designed to celebrate resilience while raising vital funds, the meal adopted a fun carnival theme that set a joyful, uplifting tone for the day. The gathering offered a welcoming space for cancer survivors, honoured guests, and local crafters to connect, share experiences, and celebrate each other amid the hustle and bustle of October’s cancer awareness campaigns.

Beyond the fellowship and celebration, every stitch and contribution had a clear purpose. A percentage of proceeds from the event directly benefit CHOC (Childhood Cancer Foundation South Africa), supporting their essential mission to aid children fighting cancer, premature babies, and other vulnerable groups. Through the simple yet powerful act of crocheting, these compassionate crafters turn yarn into symbols of hope and comfort.

Throughout the year, these passionate creators work tirelessly behind the scenes, using their craft to bring warmth, comfort, and awareness to those who need it most. Events like these showcase the incredible heart of South Africa’s philanthropic community, reminding us of the immense difference grassroots participation can make.
