10 distinctions for Menlopark matriculant

This former primary school learner of Louis Leipoldt is going to pursue his love for animals by studying veterinary sciences.

Not everyone can boast of 10 distinctions in their matric year, but Louis van den Heever of Die Hoërskool Menlopark has written this outstanding achievement behind his name.

He is also his school’s top academic learner of the 2021 matric class.

This former primary school learner of Louis Leipoldt is going to pursue his love for animals by studying veterinary sciences.

“I especially love livestock and I would love to make a difference in the rural community.”

As a young boy he told his teachers when he grows up, he wants to be a very wealthy man.

“In the countryside is where I want to be to take care of pets, livestock and wild animals and, of course, own my own farm.

He said there is “not anything no one does not know about him” because he is “an open book who wears his heart on his sleeve”.

“However, I have to admit, I can recite the numerical value of pi up to 400 decimals and when I am not studying, I enjoy the farm life or when I am in front of my computer playing war games.”

Of his greatest attributes are honesty, single-mindedness, loyalty, being hard-working and courage.

“I am always the class clown, friendly and independent.

“My advice to the matric class of 2022 is to maintain balance, to work hard, to see the bigger picture, laugh instead of crying and to break up your goal in smaller bits.

“Appreciate the small things in life.”

This 18-year-old’s biggest dreams include seeing the great wildebeest migration in Kenya, as well as seeing a choir in a big cathedral and visiting Venice.

If there is anyone he would like to be in a photo with, who will it be?

“The South African-born business magnate and entrepreneur, Elon Musk.

“Despite many challenges he had to face, he came out on top.”
