
CBC Mount Edmund is proud to present the top performing matric candidates from our centenary year. In 2022, the CBC Mount Edmund community celebrated a 100 years of excellence in Catholic education. It is therefore with pride and joy that we concluded the 100 year celebrations with our 100% matric pass rate.
Our Grade 12 learners achieved 40 distinctions as well as 75 B-symbols and 102 C-symbols. 88% of these learners passed with admission to study for bachelor’s degrees.
As an IEB school, our learners receive an internationally recognized school leaving certificate which opens the door to the world, giving our learners the opportunity to study both in South Africa as well as in universities abroad.
Our centenary matric class embodied the core essence our of college pillars of Faith, Leadership & Excellence. This class of 52 candidates successfully accomplished their 100% pass rate.
We are very proud of our top achievers, Rethabile Selesho and Zwavhudi Rikhotso, who both achieved FOUR distinctions.

Rethabile Selesho
English(HL), Sepedi(FAL), Life Orientation, Visual Arts
Rethabile plans to study Architecture at the University of Cape Town. Her dreams and ambitions include; creating opportunities for people of colour in the property sector, as well as address climate change issues in South Africa. Rethabile has been at CBC for 11 years, since 2011 and has diligently maintained her position in the Top Ten achievers from grades 8-12. She has maintained her first-place position in both grade 11 and 12. At the 2022 Matric Valediction Ceremony, she received the Diligence Award.

Zwavhudi Rikhotso
Mathematics, Life Sciences, Accounting, Life Orientation
Zwavhudi is a conscientious and exceptionally dedicated young lady who has consistently achieved excellent academic results. She has been placed in her grades’ Top Ten throughout her high school career and achieved the KPMG Trophy for Accounting at the 2022 Matric Valediction Ceremony. Her involvement in various college cultural activities included Public Speaking, Book Club, Marimba and High School Band, Monologues and Dialogues as well as competing at the Pretoria Eisteddfod. Zwavhudi plans to study Actuarial Sciences a the University of Cape Town. Her goal is to assist local businesses in her community by helping them assess their risks and adjust the nessecary parameters to create successful generational businesses.
Our runner-up achievers each received THREE distinctions:

Makgoba Thubakgale
Mathematics, Business Studies, Life Orientation
As an intelligent and critical thinking individual, Makgoba possesses a good balance between his academics, sports and culture. He is a determined and observant young man who immersed himself in various spheres of the college. Makgoba participated in college soccer and was selected for the first team. He was also a member of the Photography Club. His critical thinking skills led him to being selected for the Senior Debating first team in 2021 and 2022. Makgoba has consistently maintained his place in the academic Top Ten throughout his high school career and received the Top Achievement award for Business Studies at the 2022 Matric Valediction Ceremony. He intends studying Engineering at the Univeristy of Witwatersrand and use his qualification to help improve the South African infrastructure.

Didintle Mosaka
English (HL), Business Studies, Life Orientation
Didintle is a hardworking individual, who perseveres in his academics. He has been placed in the academic Top Ten throughout his high school career. As a warrior on the sports field, Didintle has participated in cricket, soccer and hockey and was selected for the first teams in 2021 and 2022. Didintle was elected as Captain of the hockey first-team and Vice-Captain of the soccer first-team. He was also a member of the Capital City Soccer Club and achieved provincial colours for hockey in 2015-2017. His leadership roles within the college led him to being elected for the Student Representative Council in 2018. He holds the title of being elected as the Head Boy in both the Primary School (Grade 7 in 2017) as wll as High School (grade 12 in 2022). Didintle received a trophy for being the top achiever in English Home Language as well as the Tearte Trophy – Acting Manfully. He will be heading over to the University of Pretoria to study Clinical Psychology as well as further his sports and soccer career at the TUKs Sports Academy. He is eager to showcase the importance of a good balance between the mental and physical cohesion.

Jordan Suhlane
Mathematics, Physical Science, Life Orientation
Jordan is dedicated to mathematics and physical science and is constantly seeking new methods of learning and finding interesting ways to apply the knowledge. His path is set out to head over to study Acturial Sciences at the University of Pretoria. He has a passion for numbers and plans to make his mark in the South African financial sector by using his skills and knowledge to help his clients make sound financial decisions. Through the values he has received from the college, Jordan intends to conduct outreach programmes where he will educate his community on the actuary world. Jordan has been part of the CBC Mount Edmund family since 2011 and grown into a curious young learner who is diligent and always seeking ways to prove a hypothesis in his quest to form an opinion. In his 12 years at the college, Jordan has participated in criket, soccer and hockey. He also played Club Hockey in Grade 5-7 thus receiving an honours tie in hockey. Jordan was awarded the trophy for Perseverance, a Special Dedication in Accounting award, as well as an award in Mathematics and Social Sciences at the Matric Valediciton Ceremony in 2022. As a determined young man who has great inner confidence to succed, Jordan extends his heartfelt appreciation to his teachers for all the knowledge they have imparted on him over the past 12 years at CBC Mount Edmund.
