Centurion man gets 10 years for attempted murder, robbery

"Police, who were on patrol, spotted the vehicle carrying four men and chased it."

A 27-year-old man was sentenced to 10 years after he was found guilty of attempted murder, possession of suspected stolen property and armed robbery.

Elton Ncube was sentenced at the Pretoria magistrate’s court last Friday, according to Olievenhoutbosch police spokesperson Sergeant Pretty Mokadi.

Through the hard work and dedication of the assigned detective Constable Mokwebu, Ncube was found guilty and sentenced to 10 years behind bars last week.

Ncube was arrested in Olievenhoutbosch in August 2020.

“The arrest came after the community complained about a vehicle that was used to commit robberies in the area. Police, who were on patrol, spotted the vehicle carrying four men and chased it.”

Three of the four men managed to escape on foot while Ncube was arrested inside the vehicle.

Ncube was linked to various robberies, stolen property and attempted murder.

“He was found guilty through the hard work and dedication of the assigned detective Constable Mokwebu,” Mokadi added.

She said two of the three suspects were still at large and a third suspect has since died.
