‘Reopen the school,’ says Gamelodi class of 1973
The reunion was to thank their teachers. “Without them, we could not have made it in life …we are what we are because of them.”
The Gamelodi primary school class of 1973 held their 49-year reunion recently.
The 1973 class reunion was an opportunity to reminisce with former teachers, school days gone by and to catch up with each other’s achievements in the intervening period at Moretele Park.
One of the organisers, Meke Monokwane, said the reunion was a great success.
“We also organised the reunion to get to know each other more, because we grew up together but went our separate ways and took different careers,” said Monokwane.
“Gamelodi primary school is a foundation stage for every learner and our teachers took their time guiding us and preparing us for high school.
“The reunion was to check up on each other and how we can help each other.”
