CBD shooting, wounding 3, leads to hunt for suspects

The police in the Pretoria CBD are investigating a shooting incident which occurred on Lillian Ngoyi Street on Monday and left three men hospitalised.

Police spokesperson Sergeant Tumisang Moloto said a case of attempted murder had been opened at Pretoria Central police station for further police investigation.

This as the investigation report currently suggested the three men, who were known to each other and were walking on the sidewalk along Lillian Ngoyi Street, were met with a hail of bullets after 18:00.

“When the three were attacked by the unknown number of gunmen, who fired shots and in the process, leaving all three victims shot and wounded, they managed to flee the scene.

“The victims were taken to a nearby hospital for further medical treatment,” Moloto said.

Moloto said the motive behind the shooting was still unknown at this stage.

He said a manhunt for the unknown number of gunmen had been launched.

“We appeal to the public with information which could lead to the arrests of the suspects to contact the police Crime line 08600 10111 or SMS a tip-off to 32211.
