Two North school teachers shot and killed
“The 26-year-old and 27-year-old teachers were shot dead at the residence of the suspect.”
Two young female teachers from Lekgalong primary school were allegedly shot and killed on Monday afternoon.
Gauteng Department of Education spokesperson Steve Mabona, said the 26-year-old and 27-year-old teachers were shot dead at the residence of one of their partners at approximately 15:00.
“The Gauteng Department of Education has extended psycho-social support to both the affected families and the school community,” Mabona said.
Panyaza Lesufi, Gauteng MEC of Education also expressed his frustrations towards the murders.
“We are devastated by this gruesome act of criminality that has taken the lives of two of our youngest and brightest educators.
“We extend our deepest condolences to the family and all affected members of the Lekgalong primary school community,” said Lesufi.
It was not made clear if anyone was arrested.
“Circumstances surrounding this incident are being investigated by the police,” Mabona said.
Ga-Rankuwa police had yet to provide comment by time of publication.
