45 people behind bars for various crimes committed in North

Rietgat police arrested more than 45 suspects in Soshanguve last week.
Eight of these suspects were charged with committing malicious damage to property.
The spokesperson of Rietgat police station, Stephen Maluleke said some of the suspects of malicious damage are from block X and block W.
“One man came to his parents’ house drunk.
“He then told his mother that people are stealing in the back rooms.
“When she went outside she found her drunk son smashing window panes with a brick,” he said.
Maluleke said the man was arrested after the mother called the police.
“In block W, a man in his 20s was also arrested for breaking furniture and ransacking a house.
“According to the suspects’ mother, her son accused them of stealing money and then started breaking the furniture,” he said.
Maluleke said some of the suspects were charged and detained for assault with intent to inflict grievous bodily harm (GBH), murder, common assault, armed robbery, dealing in drugs, possession of drugs, rape, malicious damage to property, possession of a stolen motor vehicle, house robbery, intimidation, housebreaking and theft, failure to appear before the magistrate’s court and contravention of protection order, among others.
The Rietgat SAPS station commander, Brigadier Molatelo Maphoto thanked community members for assisting the police.
