Manhunt launched as two patrons killed at north tavern
According to information received, two unknown males entered the tavern and utilised female toilets, which later led to the shooting of three people.
Police in the north of Pretoria have launched a manhunt after two people were fatally shot and one seriously wounded at a local tavern on Sunday evening, at Tlhasedi section, Hebron village, close to Ga-Rankuwa.
Hebron police spokesperson Brigadier Sabata Mokgwabone said according to information received, two unknown men entered the tavern and utilised female toilets.
“They were allegedly escorted out and directed to the male toilets.”
Mokgwabone said the duo then used the males’ only toilets as directed and on their return from the toilet, they approached patrons. One of them was armed with a firearm.
“They allegedly fired shots hitting one male and two females. Sadly, Godknows Kgopane (39) and Portia Manale (38) died instantly while another female (age and name still unknown) was rushed to hospital for medical treatment.”
He said the suspects fled the scene on foot and were still at large.
“The motive of the killings is unknown at this stage and investigation into the matter continues.”
Mokgwabone said the police requested anyone who may have information that could assist in the investigation, to contact the investigating officer, Captain Nick Mokhutshwane on 082 661 0741 or call the SAPS Crime Stop number on 08600 10111.
