Police urge residents to be safe during Easter

Request neighbours to keep an eye on your premises when you go away for an extended period.

Police called on Soshanguve residents who will be going away during the Easter holidays to safeguard their homes against criminals.

Normally during this period, crime rises rapidly compared to other normal weekends of the year, said Soshanguve police spokesperson Constable Nhlanhla Zondi.

Zondi said the station would like to sensitise the community on how to be safe and avoid being victims of crime during this period.

He said the station tends to see an increase in crimes such as hijackings, house robberies and business robberies.

“We also see an increase in common assault, assault with grievous bodily harm (GBH), common robberies, armed robberies, murder and other related crimes.

“These crimes become a problem during this period as people are all over in different events and all sorts of activities take place during this time.”

Soshanguve station commander Brigadier Michelle-Ann Toohey wished residents a happy and safe Easter with their respective families.
