Villieria police detain three suspects

Villieria police apprehended three suspects in East Lynne for possession of unlicensed firearms, ammunition and housebreaking implements on Tuesday evening.
Officers were patrolling the area when they spotted a suspicious-looking vehicle, according to Villieria police spokesperson Warrant Officer Marinda Austin.
“A grey BMW was driving at a very slow speed,” said Austin.
“The vehicle with three occupants was intercepted and a search was conducted which resulted in the recovery of a pistol, knife, bolt cutter and a .22 revolver with six rounds,” said Austin.
The three suspects were subsequently arrested.
The firearms will be subjected to ballistic tests to determine whether they could be linked to other crimes.
“The suspects will appear in the Pretoria magistrate’s court soon.
“I want to applaud our officers for apprehending these suspects and for their ongoing effort to ensure a safe environment for the community,” she said.
