Soshanguve police raise awareness around bullying at local schools
The awareness campaign forms part of Child Protection Month which ended at the end of April.
Soshanguve police visited a local school this week to raise awareness around the various types of bullying that learners and parents need to look out for.
Police warned learners of the Shalom Primary School about various type of bullying including physical, verbal, social and cyberbullying, said police spokesperson Nhlanhla Zondi
Zondi said the visit to the school was prompted by the Children Protection Month, which ended at the end of April.

“We have been going around schools for the past three weeks to address issues about bullying as it formed part of Child Protection Month.
“We reached out to children while they are in school because we are able to reach many in large numbers,” he said.
“In extreme cases, bullying can lead to suicide or violence against others. These include carrying weapons and getting into a physical fights. Bullies also have an increased risk for suicide.”
Zondi said the school was delighted by the visit and they urged the learners to report bullying at school.
