Five busted for cable theft in Cullinan
"They were caught red-handed digging up cables."
Cullinan police applauded the crime prevention unit officers for their quick response after they received a tip-off about cable theft on Monday.
Police spokesperson Sergeant Connie Moganedi said the unit arrested five suspects for tampering with essential infrastructure, behind the plot at Elandshoek, in the Cullinan policing area.
“They received information about the suspects who were busy digging up cables next to the railway line and swiftly responded to the scene where they caught the suspects red-handed,” said Moganedi.
The suspects, aged between 20 and 40, will soon appear at the Cullinan magistrate’s court on related charges.
She urged the community to report any cable theft and suspicious-looking persons to the police.
