Soshanguve man arrested for suspected stolen batteries

Police arrested a 25-year-old man near Shortleft Pub in Soshanguve for possession of suspected stolen batteries on Friday morning.

Soshanguve police spokesperson Nhlanhla Zondi said the police were busy with routine patrols in the area when they noticed a silver-grey Renault Sandero with four occupants inside.

Zondi said the vehicle was stopped and searched and two batteries were found inside the boot of the vehicle.

“The driver was asked where he got the batteries from. He said his uncle who owns multiple trucks gave it to him.

“His story suddenly changed and he then admitted to the police that he stole the batteries.”

Zondi said the man was then arrested for possession of suspected stolen property.

He said the man is expected to appear at the Soshanguve magistrate court’s soon.
