Robber sentenced to 10 years
The 37-year-old was arrested after his victim spotted him outside the Union Buildings and reported him to the police.
The man convicted of stabbing his victim multiple times during a robbery last April was sentenced to ten years in prison on Friday, June 3.
Sunnyside police spokesperson Captain Daniel Mavimbela said Frans Skosana (31) robbed a 37-year-old man in Sunnyside of his two cell phones and R370 in cash then stabbed him multiple times.
“The victim was admitted to Steve Biko academic hospital and managed to recover,” he said.
“The victim subsequently spotted his attacker at the Union Buildings 11 days later. He notified the police and the suspect was then arrested.”
Mavimbela said he and his Tshwane colleagues scored other successes over the weekend.
This was as Pretoria central police arrested 75 suspects during an intelligence-driven disruptive operation.
“Most notably, 19 suspects were caught for contravention of the immigration act, while the rest were nabbed for crimes like assault, possession of a stolen motor vehicle and other properties, theft, fraud, drunken driving and robbery,” he said.
Mavimbela said the suspects are all expected to appear in the Pretoria magistrate’s court this week.
