Man accused of Mamelodi girlfriend’s murder hands himself over to police after months
The search for a missing woman came to a tragic end on the evening of March 20 when she was found dead underneath the suspect’s bed.
A 31-year-old man accused of killing his girlfriend and her 11-year-old child has handed himself over to police after months of being on the run.
The man was arrested at Lebowakgomo in Limpopo province after he handed himself over to the police.
He is accused of the March 20 murder of Itumeleng Beverly Makhura (31) who went missing at the time in Nellmapius, Mamelodi.
Makhura had gone missing on March 18 allegedly after she visited a local tavern with the suspect.
The search for a missing woman came to a tragic end on the evening of March 20 when she was found dead underneath the suspect’s bed.
Her daughter’s body was found on a bed at the suspect’s home.
Police spokesperson Warrant Officer Isaac Mculu said the girl’s body was found by members of the community and family who had been searching for her mother.
The man will appear in the Pretoria magistrate’s court on Tuesday.
