Injection for President Kruger Children’s Home
The home takes care of 63 children between the ages of six and 18.
A children’s home in Pretoria received a much-needed cash injection which will greatly help towards it being able to do its work.
Virseker, as part of their Herlaai-fees campaign, handed over R50 000 to the management of the President Kruger children’s home in Villieria in the Moot last week.
The home currently takes care of 63 children aged between six and 18.
This orphanage was established in 1939 and is one of the oldest children’s homes in Pretoria.
Children’s home manager Kobus Vorster said the funds will be used to provide for the children’s daily needs, which included anything from food, school fees and medical expenses.
“We rely on financial support and donations from the public. Without the community’s help, it will not be possible for the orphanage to keep our doors open,” Vorster said.
Vorster said they are grateful for everyone’s involvement.
“Our monthly operating costs are more or less R500 000 to R600 000.
“We only get a 33% subsidy from the state and thus we rely on the community’s help.”
The team must constantly think on their feet to come up with initiatives to generate an income.
“Our mission is to develop children to their full potential by providing a high standard of physical, mental, emotional, educational, therapeutic and scholastic care.
“The orphanage is a registered non-profit organisation that focuses on the care of children in an Afrikaans Christian environment.
“Our mission is to guide children from traumatised family environments through Christian norms and values to become full-fledged young adults who can sustain themselves in society.”
