A truck is currently stuck inside the Daspoort tunnel in Pretoria West, causing heavy delays in both directions of the road.

The truck came to a stop inside the tunnel after it experienced mechanical issues, said TMPD spokesperson Superintendent Isaac Mahamba.

Mahamba said TMPD officers are on the scene, ensuring that traffic is being controlled and regulated.

He, however, said he is not sure what time the truck will be cleared from the tunnel.

He added that they are waiting for the owners of the truck to arrive when a solution to remove it will be found.

Mahamba urged motorists to use alternative routes to reach their destination.

“Motorists are advised to avoid using the route as they will be heavily delayed.

“Motorists coming from the Mabopane highway and into Pretoria West should instead use Van der Hoff road and those coming from Pretoria West should use the N4 to Eskia Mphahlele as an alternative route.”
