Two clothing store ‘robbers’ nabbed in CBD
The two suspects were arrested while roaming the streets of the CBD two days after the robbery.
Two men were arrested on Wednesday for allegedly robbing a clothing store in the Pretoria CBD.
The suspects, aged 55 and 57, reportedly robbed the store on Monday and apprehended two days later in the CBD after being spotted in the streets.
Police spokesperson Constable Thabang Nkhumise said the two are said to have raided the store of clothes worth almost R3 000.
Nkhumise said the police received a tip-off on Wednesday that the two were seen in the streets of the CBD.
He said police swift reaction led to the arrest on Thabo Sehume Street.
“Upon searching the two suspects, police found two knives and a magnet device that is typically used to remove price tags and security tags from clothing items,” he said.
“Both suspects were taken to Pretoria Central SAPS for detention and will appear before a Pretoria magistrate’s court soon.”
A case of business robbery was open and further investigation will be conducted to see if they are linked to other reported robberies in the city.
