Police spokesperson Warrant Officer Isaac Mculu said the bakkie was hijacked from a 27-year-old man last month on the freeway before the Lynburn off-ramp.
“Three armed suspects in a silver VW Polo blocked his way and forced him into their vehicle and drove off,” Mculu said.
Mculu said the victim was dropped off in Johannesburg and his car was taken.
Limpopo police spokesperson Lieutenant-Colonel Malesela Ledwaba said they further found a silver Toyota Fortuner reported to Brooklyn police to also have been stolen in July.
“On Saturday, the police nabbed a suspect after he was allegedly found in possession of a stolen vehicle that was reported stolen to the Erasmia police also in July,” Ledwaba said.
On Sunday, the police flying squad arrested a suspect at a Limpopo shopping mall who was found in possession of a stolen motor vehicle that was reported stolen at the Lyttelton police station, Centurion.
Hijackings have been problematic in Pretoria.
