Local ballet dancers crowned world champs

The duo received yet another accolade as the most outstanding duet/trio.

Two east of Pretoria ballet dancers recently returned from the World Lyric Dance Federation competition in Dublin, Ireland.

Jené Venter and Lumé Fourie of Leap for Joy dance studios returned from representing South Africa on this world stage with two titles each to their name plus an accolade for most outstanding duet/trio.

Jené took first place in the u.18 improvisation and lyrical dances categories while Lumé won gold in the u.12 jazz and lyrical dance categories.

Leap for Joy owner and dance instructor Tanya Fourie said, reflecting back, these two dancers did amazingly well.

“It was such a successful and marvellous international competition.

“It was the first world championships in three years since the girls could not travel due to Covid-19.

“We made great memories and had the opportunity to meet some of the world’s greatest dancers,” Fourie said.
