Fire in Valhalla causes damage to vehicles and municipal infrastructure

The cause of the fire has not been determined

Eighteen firefighters from the SANDF Fire Services and Tshwane Emergency Services responded to a house engulfed in flames in Valhalla on Friday.

Tshwane emergency services spokesperson Charles Mabaso said emergency services teams, including the South African National Defence Force, were faced with flames and gas cylinders exploding.

“Firefighters extinguished the flames manually with two attack fire hose lines,” said Mabaso.

He said multiple motorcycles were burnt in the front yard and rooms in the house were damaged by the blaze.

“Electrical cables on the poles burnt and left two adjacent houses without electrical power.

“The emergency call centre informed Tshwane utility services about the electrical power situation.”

According to Mabaso a neighbour reported that this was not the first time the house had suffered a fire.

No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
