Load-shedding for this afternoon has been suspended

Eskom will promptly communicate changes should a need arise

Eskom has suspended load-shedding stage two for this afternoon due to improved generation capacity and a full recovery of emergency generation reserves.

In a statement, the power utility said while they were able to suspend the load-shedding at this point, it was important to note that the generation system was still vulnerable to breakdowns and more load-shedding might be required.

Eskom spokesperson Sikonathi Mantshantsha said South Africans were urged to continue using electricity sparingly, especially during these uncertain times on the power system.

“Eskom currently has 4 116MW on planned maintenance, while another 12 437MW of capacity is unavailable due to breakdowns.

“Eskom would like to thank the people for their patience and understanding during load-shedding.”
