UPDATE: ‘It’s not a total shutdown’ – Rand Water

The water utility will not completely shut down water supply but will supply residents with a lesser percentage of water than usual.

Water Utility Rand Water said they will not be implementing a total shutdown of water supply but will supply the Tshwane metro’s residents with a lesser percentage of water than the usual capacity.

This comes after the utility told News 24 that only 10% of the water will be cut down and 90% will still be available.

The planned maintenance will start at 17:00 on August 19 and will last until August 23 at 08:30.

“During the shutdown, Rand Water’s Palmiet booster station will supply the City’s residents with a lesser percentage of water than the usual capacity,” the metro said in a statement.

“Residents are advised to use water sparingly during this time to prevent reservoirs from running dry.”
