Police stats show noticeable decrease in crime around Pretoria

Trends have shown a decrease in sexual offences and property-related crimes.

The South African Police Services have released their quarterly statistics which show that the north of Pretoria has seen significant decreases in crime, among other trends.

Other areas considered in the stats include Pretoria central, Moot, and Pretoria West.

Trends have shown a decrease in sexual offences and property-related crimes.

Pretoria North has seen a decrease in the following crimes: personal crimes have decreased by 12.6%, sexual offences decreased by 21.4% and property-related crimes by 10.6%.

Moot cases related to sexual offences and property-related crimes have decreased significantly by 50% and 20.3% respectively.

Personal crimes in the Moot area however have increased by 29.2% and serious crimes by 29.3%.

Pretoria central has seen an increase in personal crimes by 11%, and contact-related crimes by 20.5%. Sexual offences in the CBD area have decreased by 16.1% and property-related crimes by 19.6%.

Pretoria West seems to have the worst results of the stats with increases in sexual offences by 4.5%, personal crimes by 35.1%, and contact-related crimes by 23.6%.
