The Centurion resident did not disappoint as she delivered one of her most memorable performances.

She said her album was close to her heart.

“I wrote songs about my life, experiences, upbringing and love for music and the country,” she told Rekord.

She said she believed the music on her new album would uplift the spirits of those who listened to it.

“Hopefully the album can uplift listeners’ spirits in both good and bad times.”

The album consists of two English and six Afrikaans songs. Four of them were released as singles prior to the official release.

“She added that the English songs were a little bit rocky and the Afrikaans ones had, among others, a country and pop feeling.

“People can hum to them and sing along.”

CheraLee is not a new kid on the block in music as she started singing at the age of 11.

“Music has always been part of my life.”

The 42-year-old said it took her four years to complete the album and the long duration symbolises the quality of her work.

“Tonight is about celebrating the hard work that was done behind the scenes.”
